The 1st of August saw our final Sports Leaders session with Naenae College. Twenty-two Year 12 Students ran a day of sporting activities aimed at teaching simple life lessons like team work, and positivity to a group of 30 students from Naenae Intermediate.
The purpose of this was for the Naenae College young people to step up and experience leadership in a safe environment despite being thrown into the deep with almost no assistance from us on the day. We had however used the last four sessions with them this year to equip and prepare them for this day. They were taught different leadership qualities such as: communication, team work, planning, delivery skills and more.
This is the first time Ignite Sport has partnered with Naenae Intermediate in several years, and this was an awesome opportunity to encourage partnership and relationship between Naenae College and Naenae Intermediate students. All 22 students excelled in the activities they ran and the day was filled with lots of fun, laughter and learning.
